DR. SHELDON SEIDMAN: Steve, I know you came in here and wanted to do veneers, but there’s functional reasons that you need to touch some of the back teeth, and you need to restore things so everything meshes really well because if I just put veneers on your teeth, they’ll look fantastic and you’ll love them, but you haven’t addressed the functional issues. And the functional issues sometimes will allow you to grind and knock things around, and teeth wear, and that’s why you noticed your teeth are getting shorting, but porcelain will break. And so you don’t want to have anything breaking as it comes along. So to prevent the breakage and to get everything functionally meshing, we need to actually cut some back teeth. So you need to do a little bit more posterior work as opposed to just put some veneers on.
The good news is when you go to smile, you’ll see nice, healthy, normal teeth and they’ll be functioning normally as well.
