After listen to Steve’s concern, Dr. Sheldon Seidman performs an initial examination for a throughout analysis. In this clip, you can see how Dr. Seidman examines Steve’s teeth and takes records.
DR. SHELDON SEIDMAN: All right, Steve. Let me take a look and see what we have. Okay. Open real wide. All right. You’ve got a lot of wear on the gum lines, basically all your teeth. We used to think that was toothbrush abrasion, but we find that that is called they’re called abractions and a lot of it has to do with your bite.
So bite together back teeth and just move side to side. Okay. Back teeth again, slide all the way towards me; towards me. Okay. All right. Okay. Open.
I think you’re hitting something back here that’s pushing you forward, which is wearing things off on the edges here and that’s why your teeth are really getting shorter. So we need to address the back teeth as much, if not more, than the front teeth. And the byproduct is going to be that gorgeous smile you’re looking for.
So I think to achieve what you’re talking about, you’ll probably have to do about 10 teeth up on top and probably 12 on the bottom just to get where you’re going to go to reestablish a bite for it.
