STEVE SCHADT: How do I take care of porcelain veneers?
DR. SHELDON SEIDMAN: Well we recommend you get them cleaned three or four times a year just because you actually are putting a foreign body in your mouth, and if you have any kind of stain or covering or anything like that, you want to get that off before it irritates your gums ‘cause if you don’t take care of them, it’s not the veneers that are going to go, it’s the tissue that’s going to get taken care of. It’s going to get really puffy and you’re going to have problems with that.
So they don’t pit. They don’t chip. And they only stain if you’ve got stuff on the teeth. So you want to get them really clean. You’re going to floss them like they’re your own teeth. You are going to brush them like they’re your own teeth. And you’re going to have our hygienist polish them up every three or four months.
